Remarks & Notes |
Burlington Northern SD7 6017 sits in front of the Allouez Yard Office in July 1975. By this time on the BN, old paint locomotives were getting fewer and fewer with each passing year. Luckily Superior was one of the few BN terminals where GN paint was abundant. Here 6017 looks like it went through a thousand prize fights but it still performs like the day it rolled out of LaGrange in March 1953. Years of heavy yard switching and ore service have taken their toll on 6017's GN paint but she will keep going until retirement in September 1983. One need not look any further than the GN, BN, Missabe and Southern Pacific as to how well built these SD roadswitchers were. These SD7/9s were one of the best products EMD ever built.
