Detoured Pan Am Southern trains are continuing to run over Vermont Rail System due to the recent collapse and structural issues with the Hoosac Tunnel. Most recently, autoracks bound for Gardner, Massachusetts and the Providence & Worcester Railroad have started being routed over Vermont Rail System's former D&H trackage between Whitehall, NY and Rutland, VT, then down the Green Mountain Railroad to Bellows Falls, VT. Here, the first empty autorack train--28W--passes the former D&H station at Fair Haven, VT. Though this section of railroad sees Amtrak in daylight, VRS freights through here are typically nocturnal.
