"Central New England Railroad at Austin Organs"
Central New England Railroad's CNE-1 heads north up the Griffin Industrial Track past Austin Organs Incorporated in Hartford with loads for Home Depot. Founded in 1893, Austin Organs Inc. builds pipe organs using their patented Universal Airchest System developed by John T. Austin. The company moved to this building in 1899 and has been there ever since.
The Central New England Railroad (CNZR) is a short line railroad that operates over two Connecticut Department of Transportation owned rail lines in Connecticut; the Griffin Industrial Track between Hartford and Windsor, and the Armory Branch Line between South Windsor and the Massachusetts State Line in Enfield. The 8.7 mile long Griffin Industrial Track features one customer, a Home Depot Regional Distribution Center located on the north end of the line in the town of Bloomfield. |
