With only several hopper cars in tow, the Union Pacific 3902 guides the MROHP through the tight confines of Price Canyon. Price Canyon provided the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railway (merged with SP in 1989, then SP merged with UP in 1996) with a route between the town of Helper and Soldier Summit. Located in the Southern Wasatch Range, this particular section of railroad is known as one of the most difficult and treacherous mountain routes in the country. Now known as the Union Pacific Provo Subdivision, history lives on along this railroad. The old telegraph lines, which allowed for communication between stations, still parallels this particular section of trackage.
