Briefly stopping to process very few passengers en route to New Haven; ridership has plunged due to the Coronavirus. This top-ten day is almost two years to the day since the Hartford Line debuted (June 16 2018). Significant Federal and State funding re-double-tracked 26.7 of 38.7 miles between New Haven and Springfield over the past ten years; the initial double-track was removed in the mid-1980s for cost-cutting. Various other infrastructure improvements, including crossing, station, and signaling updates, were part of the project. A section in Windsor Locks about five miles north, including the Warehouse Point Bridge to Enfield from Suffield, and south in downtown Hartford, remains single-tracked.
