On the warm and rainy spring afternoon of Friday, May 22, 2020, MTA Metro-North Railroad 202 (P32AC-DM) leads a Poughkeepsie bound commuter train through the Ludlow Station, in Yonkers, New York. Until recent years, the robust industrial complexes of the area received freight service from the railroad, but presently there is only one regularly served customer on the Metro-North portion of the Hudson Line, Chelsea Forest Products in Wappingers Falls, NY.
With three lines radiating north out of Grand Central Terminal plus service to Port Jervis on the former Erie, Metro North covers a wide swatch of New York's northern suburbs with varying terrains.
