Tuscarora Mountain provides the backdrop as AMTK 121 leads Amtrak 43(20), the Pennsylvanian, west along the south bank of the Juniata River, opposite Mexico, PA, at Book’s Crossing (PT 148.7) on the Pittsburgh Line.
The former PRR Mexico Station (not much more than a glorified passenger shelter really) was located just a quarter mile (railroad) west of this location. The community–and post office–of Mexico, however, is located on the opposite bank of the Juniata.
The electrified Northeast Corridor and Keystone Corridor have the traffic. The Pennsylvanian and Capitol Limited routed, which are all diesel, have the scenery.
