Dakota Junction This ex-CNW branchline junction in western Nebraska looks much the way it did when the CNW left. It was once on the Chicago & NorthWestern's frontier on its quest to build to the Pacific Ocean. The "Y" at Dakota Junction connected the Cowboy Line with the Dakota Lines. Today it is the interchange point between the RCPE and Nebraska NorthWestern. On this day the NNW used the RCPE power to move a cut of grain from Whitley to add to the interchange traffic off the BNSF from Crawford. The train is crossing one of 3 trestles that make up the "Y" at Dakota Junction.
