Coal is no longer the 'king' it once was on CSX’s former Clinchfield mainline. Mines and tipples–both large and small alike have continued shudder across the region since the late 1980’s following a trending decline in coal usage–leaving husks of their former lives. One such tipple is the former Collco structure in Haysi, VA. Framed by safety railing, Collco tower and the coal chute itself CSX mixed bag Q692-21 tears north downgrade between the unused tipple and sharp rock cut. Though coal has not flowed from this 1970 edifice since the mid 2000's, trains continue to tackle the curves through Haysi, passing a slue of relics like Collco from bygone eras on the CSX KP Sub.
