After what I considered a bad morning on the Pickens, I decided to head south to see if I could manage any luck on the Hartwell, a notoriously difficult shortline to shoot due to the fact that not even the crews know what they'll do doing that day & the fact that they leave their power all over the place when they're done with it. However, after getting off at the Lavonia exit on I-85 south & heading to grab lunch before beginning my search, I noticed what looked like a covered hopper heading north & immediately after that noticed a cloud of blue diesel smoke come up from behind the McDonald's near the exit. Naturally, I turned around to chase the train north, which on this day had former SOU/NS GP38-2 5130 leading the 1973, a straight GP38 which began life as Penn Central 7874.
