Having arrived to the east end of the Bluefield, WV yards, NS 393, lead by Wabash heritage unit #1070, creeps its way along the southside main on March 7, 2021. In June 1952, the N&W began construction on this section of the Bluefield yard to help speed the flow of traffic east due to growing export coal business at that time. This project would call for the excavation of 337,000 cubic yards of material and the extension of the eastward forwarding and receiving yards would amount to 2.77 miles in total.
