Time To Change Again. Iowa Pacific Railroad E9A (née UP 957, 9/1955) was sitting in Batesville, Mississippi on the early morning hours of Sunday, December 15, 2019. Over its career, this unit would be in the hands of a number of companies including Amtrak and the Alaska Railroad. It is seen in most recent previous owner Wisconsin & Southern Railroad colors as part of a Christmas Train on the Grenada Railroad. A few days after this photo, the train would derail with over 200 people on board, thankfully without reported injuries. After being forced into involuntary bankruptcy, Iowa Pacific's assets are presently for sale by Heritage Rail Leasing, LLC, a subsidiary of the Iowa Pacific Holdings. This unit is listed with a "value" of $85,000.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
