Limited Return. On Friday, May 10, 2013, former New York Central Pullman Standard Observation/Lounge/Sleeper car "Hickory Creek" (PPCX 800733) was brought to Grand Central Terminal (GCT) in New York, NY for display for National Train Day events that weekend. In 1948, this car began to serve as part of an all Pullman consist on the "20th Century Limited" from New York to Chicago. The carpet is a replica of the one that would greet passengers of this NYC flagship train, which was prominently featured in the Alfred Hitchcock movie “North By Northwest” starring Cary Grant. 2013 was the second of 2 years that GCT would host displays for National Train Day. This also marked a rare return to its home NYC terminal, as all Amtrak long distance service has been routed to/through New York Penn Station since 1991. The former Milwaukee Road business car "Montana" sits on the adjoining track.
