A Lehigh Valley Railroad Survivor in...
Bethlehem, PA!This is the street view of the 1886 built headquarters of the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Known for a while as the "Conrail Building", this building is located in Bethlehem, within close proximity to the still surviving "Union Station" which both the Lehigh Valley and the Reading used. The CNJ station is just across the Lehigh River.
The building was built by the Lehigh Valley Railroad in two stages; the ground through third floors were constructed in 1885-1886 and the upper floors and western wing were added in 1889–1890. The main elevation features two copper bay windows at the corners; one three stories tall and the other one story tall. The building's style reflects Late Victorian Gothic and Queen Anne influences. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The former office building now houses apartments.
