Remarks & Notes |
A bluebird July morning in Huntingdon, PA finds a C40-8W and an SD-60 in charge of an eastbound manifest making time down the Juniata River valley. This was highball territory and they really ripped through Huntingdon in CR days. Some 8-12 manifests in each direction traversed the Pittsburgh line at this time, plus trailvans and mineral freight. The vintage 1900 interlocking station was manned until 1985 when the multiple track mainline was reduced to two main tracks and the familiar towers located about every twenty miles along the route were closed. |
