The Green Machine: New Hampshire Northcoast train D8 crosses southbound over the Salmon Falls River on a beautiful August afternoon. The train is seen crossing into the one short stretch of Maine it traverses, where it will then cross back into New Hampshire to work Hayes siding and Tri City before delivery to the Pan Am interchange in Dover, NH. From there, the evening Pan Am crew would drop the manifest and take the then unit sand train to its destination, Boston Sand and Gravel in Boston, drop the 1801 at the MBTA Boston Engine Terminal in Somerville for wheel work, and take the empty sand train back to the interchange in Dover to start the rotation over again.
