A pair of Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway’s new cog diesel-electric locomotives and trainsets are at the very summit of 14,115-foot Pikes Peak on August 25, 2021. Built by Stadler Rail of Switzerland, each trainset consists of a locomotive and three passenger cars, with the last car also equipped as a cab control car. The M&PPR reopened in May 2021, after being shut down for nearly four years—during which time the railway was totally reconstructed, older cars were rebuilt and new equipment was built and delivered.
