"Testing on the Rockaway Test Track"
On the afternoon of October 25th, 2021, the first 10-car train of Kawasaki built MTA New York City Transit R211A subway cars (4060-4064/4065-4069) is seen making several round trips on the Rockaway Test Track at Broad Channel while performing initial testing.
With the introduction of this new model of subway railcar, several tests must be performed before the rest of the huge order is built. One of these tests involves running the new train back and forth on the 2-mile long Rockaway Test Track at the Broad Channel flats testing braking, propulsion and various other mechanical features.
