Salutes Our Veterans. On the morning of January 5, 2020, Amtrak 161 crosses Shaw's Cove in New London, Connecticut with AMTK 642 (Siemens ACS-64) leading. The special paint scheme, notably using red to contrast with the gray instead of the traditional blue, also features a large graphic with the writing "America's Railroad Salutes Our Veterans" and 10 service campaign ribbons from Word War II to the Global War On Terrorism. The railroad shows its dedication to veterans by not only honoring with these kinds of paint schemes but hiring veterans to work on the railroad.
