"Racing Toward the Future at Aqueduct"
On the morning of November 16th, 2021, the first 5-car Kawasaki built MTA New York City Transit R211A subway cars (4060-4064) race by Aqueduct–North Conduit Avenue station on the IND Rockaway Line in Queens, NY. New York City's famous Aqueduct Racetrack complex can be seen in the background. The train was heading to the Rockaway Test Track at Broad Channel for several hours of testing.
With the introduction of this new model of subway railcar, several tests must be performed before the rest of the huge order is built. One of these tests involves running the new train back and forth on the 2-mile long Rockaway Test Track at the Broad Channel flats testing braking, propulsion and various other mechanical features.
