It is now exactly one year since the steam snow blower R # 12 (Xrot d # 9212) was back in service for the first time after 60 years. It had been built in 1913 by SLM Winterthur for the Rhaetian Railway (main network). After about 18 years of hard work, the R 12 group under the leadership of Martin Horath had completed the refurbishment, overhaul and recommissioning. The steam snow blower was pushed by the rack-and-pinion steam locomotive HG 3/4 # 4 of the Furka Bergstrecke steam railroad, also built in 1913. The composition is clearing the line through the Furkareuss gorge and passing the Hippsche Wendescheibe entrance signal of Realp DFB.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
