Santa Fe tried quality intermodal service during 1987. The Denver (Big Lift) to La Junta, CO, train had Kodachrome 3600 and "blue bird" 3698 between Big Lift and Sedalia handling 19-loads and one empty.
Aside from Warbonnets and Chiefs, Santa Fe was a workaday railroad like any other. This album showcases that less glamorous--but no less vital--side of the famous ATSF.
