In the mid 1940's the Ogoki Diversion was built to send water flowing into Hudson Bay into Lake Superior. The Little Jackfish River flows from the Ogoki into Lake Nipigon, which then empties into Superior. A channel here was blasted into the rock underneath the impressive 799' bridge and reinforced with concrete along the banks to prevent erosion. The location is very isolated near the top of Lake Nipigon with no road access. Toronto Malport, ON - Winnipeg Fort Rouge, MB train Q101 soars across.
For the most part, this section of CN is very isolated, and as an employee I am able to gain access. CN's Bala, Ruel, Soo, Caramat, Allanwater, and Redditt Subs are all featured.
