A Power Full Train. Illinois Central/Canadian National GP40R 3138 (IC, OLS, née-IC 3063 GP40, 8/1969) and Grand Trunk Western/Canadian National GP38-2 4904 (GTW, née-MP 902 GP38-2, 2/1972) are the only active locomotives on CN Train X537 as it approaches the 18th Street overpass in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, May 5, 2022. These veteran 4-axles were tasked with transporting 15 much younger engines that have turned their last revenue mile, the oldest of which was built in 1990, for eventual scrapping. The consist is passing through the recently upgraded Ping Tom Memorial Park, with the St. Charles Air Line Bridge and Chicago skyline in the background.
