The Future for Boston.
MBTA 1436 is the lead motor on an Orange Line train of new CRRC cars nearing Roxbury Crossing station, in a deep trench paralleling Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. Though initially fraught with issues leading to them being pulled from service numerous times, modifications to the new cars have made them reliable in service, compared to the critically deteriorating Hawker Siddeley #12 Main Line cars.
The entire fleet of 120 Hawker Siddeley cars will be replaced by the full order of 152 CRRC cars, and the additional trainsets will allow for more frequent service on the line as well. The cars were built in Springfield, MA by Chinese-owned CRRC.
The MBTA is very dear to me. The first trains I ever rode as a toddle to teenager were those of the "T" Here is a collection of MBTA Subway and trolley I have found on RP from the 60's thru today.
