Come Together.
It was a busy scene at Belmont station on the morning of 10/1/2022, with a parade of vintage CTA equipment and Brown and Red Line trains passing through to their various destinations! A two-car train of 4000-Series cars (Cincinnati Car Co., 1914-1924) is waiting north of the crossovers while a Loop-bound Brown Line train - notably led by a pair of former Skokie Swift 3200-Series cars (Morrison-Knudsen, 1992-1994) - clears the interlocking. In the background there's also a Howard-bound Red Line train platformed in the station, and in the far background (partially obscured by the station canopy) is a two-car train of 6000-Series cars (St. Louis Car Co., 1950-1959) and a four-car train of 2400-Series cars (Boeing-Vertol, 1976-1978).
There were five of us atop the parking garage here awaiting the passage of the historic trains, ironically all five were from New York City, already knew each other, and had not all planned to meet here! Google Maps showed the empty lot in the foreground to be occupied by a building abutting the tracks, but serendipitously it appeared to have been torn down in the very recent past!
