Blue Locomotive On A Blue Morning. On Friday, January 13, 2023, Amtrak 100 (P42DC, 50th Anniversary) led Train 63 (Maple Leaf) out of New York Penn Station, seen approaching the Croton Harmon, New York Station. This was an unusual visit to the Big Apple for the anniversary unit as diesels only lead over this section of the Empire Service when a dual mode locomotive is not available. AMTK 100 is one of five P42DCs that were painted in special schemes that denoted the 50th Anniversary of the May 1, 1971 when the obligation to operate inter-city trains was assumed from private railroads.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
