There are a lot of interesting locomotives at Amtrak's Wilmington Maintenance Facility: stored HHP-8s (as well as a single GE 80-ton and a rebuilt SW9 [now called an SW1000]), brand-new ALC-42 diesels, MPI-built GP15Ds, a whole lot of ACS-64 electric locomotives, former GO Transit GP40TCs (now designated as GP38H-3) and former freight locomotives in the form of GP38 and GP38-2 diesels, rebuilt by Amtrak into GP38-3s. One of those, AMTK GP38-3 728, was built by EMD in January 1976 as Long Island GP38-2 253. Along the way it became LLPX 2246, then PRLX 2275 before ending up at Amtrak.
