A barn and another outbuilding are still standing at an abandoned homestead and ranch that was once part of a tiny community known as Weed, located above Austin, Montana. Weed is still a place name used on Montana Rail Link and is the location of the end of what is essentially two main tracks that now climb the grade of Mullan Pass out of Austin. On July 4, 2021, an eastbound BNSF manifest freight train exits the upper horseshoe curve through Iron Ridge on the 2.2 percent descending grade in the background.
