The big prize that I went out for last Sunday, March 26, 2023, was P42DC #203, Amtrak's Operation Life Saver unit, which was leading #3. Don't know if the timing has changed on how long the train sits at LAUS before it is taken down to 8th Street, but this one sat about four hours, which ended up meaning I had some "splainin'" to do when I got home about three hours later than I had suggested I would. What was even more annoying was at about 2 1/2 hours, my friend and I decided it must have already gone down and we missed it. It wasn't there at Olympic though, so he drove back to LAUS and saw it there... just at that moment I heard "Amtrak 3, highball" on the radio. We both raced to bridges (I went to First, thinking I didn't have time to get back to Chavez). Waited another hour with nothing. Then I decided I must have misheard and I would go shoot it at LAUS and go home. As I reach LAUS I hear on the radio, "Yes, we are using the wye, shoving back." Okay, that could only be #3's consist, so I raced to Chavez, parked, ran up the freaking bridge, and low and behold, just minutes later, it appeared.
