Norfolk Southern’s first Heritage Unit, GP59 4610, was built in November 1989.
It had been here in High Point for a few days doing local switching in the early 1990’s. While on my lunch break from work, I happened to catch this southbound hopper train stop on the mainline and cut off the power and take the siding to pick up 4610, which then became the lead unit as the train continued south.
Selected photos of locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock in the Southern's livery as well as other assets once belonging to or used by the Southern.
