Briefly Below.
Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) M9 no. 9047 (Kawasaki, 2019-present) is the lead unit on a westbound train cruising through Woodside, Queens, seen from the Woodside Ave overpass. The Main Line and Port Washington Branch run concurrently here, where the hilly terrain causes the line to briefly duck below Woodside Ave, 65th St, and 65th Pl before returning to elevated crossings of adjacent streets.
The nation's busiest passenger railroad depends every day on a fleet of nearly 1,000 multiple unit cars to bring hundreds of thousands of commuters to and from their jobs.
