Canine Cars. On June 8, 2016, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority/MTA Police Department Canine Training Center opened in Stormville, New York. The complex is not normally open to the public, but invitations were extended for a ceremony that was held there for the opening day. Officials including then MTA Metro-North Railroad President Joseph Giulietti and MTA Police Chief Michael Coan spoke about all of the benefits that a modern facility will have for law enforcement and passengers and demonstrations were performed by K9 teams from police departments. Pictured here, retired M6s 9031-9030 (Morrison-Knudsen, 1993-1995) were placed on a panel of track with non-powered third rail and a grade crossing, one of the many venues that scenarios are arranged for training.
