Amtrak's flagship Acela races past Eddystone station bound for Wilmington, DE and points south. The name "Eddystone" comes from the Eddystone Lighthouse in England. The name was given to the town from the Simpson Family who started the Eddystone Print Works there in the 1870's. The area of Eddystone is rather historic, home to the Baldwin Locomotive Works, which built 100,000+ steam, diesel, and electric locomotives until the mid-1950s.
