Morning At Manitou. MTA Metro-North Train 809 had the most popular locomotive on the railroad leading on the morning of Thursday, August 3, 2023. Metro-North (MNCW) GE P32AC-DM 208 recently saw mechanical work as well as having this special 40th Anniversary wrap added commemorating the "beachball" paint scheme that was once dominant on FL9s on this line and still lives on the West of Hudson fleet. The train has just passed the Bear Mountain Bridge along the shores of the Hudson River as it heads through Manitou, New York toward Poughkeepsie, New York. Metro-North is rumored to be adding several more wraps with adaptations of historic paint schemes, so there will be even more interesting sights along the 'Water Level Route' to photograph in the coming months.
With three lines radiating north out of Grand Central Terminal plus service to Port Jervis on the former Erie, Metro North covers a wide swatch of New York's northern suburbs with varying terrains.
