On August 10, a northbound freight train derailed in the 57-kilometer-long Gotthard Base Tunnel, and since then both tubes have been closed. All passenger traffic, as well as freight traffic that can pass through the smaller profile, travels via the Gotthard mountain route, today also called the panorama route. Freight train 60220 from Lugano Vedeggio to the Limmattal shunting yard (RBL) can be seen on the uppermost level of the loops of Wassen, between the Entschigtal avalanche protection gallery and the Hirmi keeper's house. Pulling are Bombardier TRAXX F140 MS Re 484 # 015 and # 016 of the SBB in multiple control. Gross load was about 800 ton, length about 500 meter. Most cars were empty.
