The DOTs On The Move. NJ Transit is shifting its preparations into high gear for the upcoming 40th Anniversary events. On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, a pair of moves brought heritage equipment to the Meadows Maintenance Complex (MMC). While The Juniata Terminal Company equipment was being brought from Pennsylvania, another crew was picking up from the United Railroad Historical Society in Boonton, New Jersey. Matching in their "New Jersey Department Of Transportation" paint schemes on NJT Extra 4101, NJTR 4101 (GP40PH-2, Leslie SU3L horn) and former Erie Lackawanna 3372 (U34CH) led New York Central (NYC) 43 (Tavern/Lounge) and NJTR 4102 (GP40PH-2). While the U34CH is not presently operable and will only be used for the equipment display at Hoboken on Sunday, NYC 43 will be a part of the excursion train on Saturday. Coming around the curve approaching the Passaic River, the train has just passed through the former Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad Broad Street Station in Newark, New Jersey.
