On Monday, October 9, 2023, NAUG 859 (née-NW 859, GP9, 6/1959) was the power for a special photo excursion to highlight some of the areas that are difficult to access without riding on the tourist train ride on the Railroad Museum of New England/Naugatuck Railroad to demonstrate different angles for the public. Throughout the day, the train traveled from the restored vintage New Haven Railroad station in Thomaston, Connecticut (where the railroad has a parking lot, facilities , and a gift shop) north up into East Litchfield and south to Jericho Bridge crossing the Naugatuck River to showcase the train in its natural environment.
