VANCOUVER WA Oct 2 1978 — Retired Burlington Northern RS3 4082 (Northern Pacific paint for lawsuit) sits in the sun at the engine facility. Alco built the unit (b/n 81155) in March 1955 as NP 858. In March 1970, with the creation of BN, it became No. 4082. After the merger it was painted in BN green. BN retired the unit in August 1978. On an unknown date and while still in use in NP paint it was involved in a grade-crossing accident. There was a lawsuit concerning the accident and a judge ordered the accident be re-created. As a result it regained Northern Pacific colors as seen in this photo. I am unable to discover an outcome for the lawsuit. On Jan 1 1978 it was sold to Joseph Simon and Sons (Tacoma WA) and was scrapped. Corrections and/or additions welcome. (My photo)
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
