GCT Like It Used To Be. If you look at photos of Grand Central Terminal in the past, you will see a lot of light streaming in all of the windows, to the point of creating brighter spots on the interior. At that time, GCT was not only the largest building in the area, but even provided electricity through its power plant to many of its neighbors. Since the, tall buildings have blocked much of the bright direct light, though one call back to the past is that for a short time during the year, the low winter sun streams in through the 42 Street/Park Avenue entrance behind the famed information booth.
