Take The Siding. Pulling into the siding at Girard & 63, SEPTA PCC-III 2324 is practicing different scenarios that may occur in service. On Saturday, February 10, 2024, a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) PCC-III left Callowhill Depot for a training run on the Route 15. Trolley service on the Route 15 was suspended on January 24, 2020 after officials expressed concern about the mechanical state of the fleet and the need to commence an extensive rebuilding process. But backing up further, on April 29, 2012, trolley service was suspended between Richmond & Westmoreland and Girard & Frankford for construction on Interstate 95. The full length of the Route 15 is now covered by buses. The 18 PCC-III are rebuilds of original 1947 Philadelphia PCC (Presidents' Conference Committee) Cars with improvements such as air conditioning and ADA accessibility. Although there has not been a date announced, with a significant portion of the fleet ready for service and training ongoing for quite some time, it would appear that the return of trolley service on the Route 15 may be approaching.
