Before each season, which begins this year on June 20, the cars on the Furka Mountain Steam Railway (Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke) have to prove that their brakes are working perfectly. For this purpose, brake tests are carried out on each individual carriage and documented. Here it is the turn of the four-axle covered freight car Gak # 2443, which was being pushed by the steam locomotive HG 4/4 # 704 on the rack track over the Wiler bridge. Now, the car is braked with the hand brake to couple with the locomotive again. There is still snow on the track above the Wilerbrücke bridge; snow clearance will begin this year on May 20.
