Remarks & Notes
Old and New, First and Last. Metro-North Railroad P32AC-DM locomotives 201 and 231 are seen passing at Croton North Station on June 1, 2024. Both locomotives are sporting heritage paint schemes (a wrap, in 201's case) for railroads that became today's Metro-North Railroad: 201 in a paint scheme worn by FL-9 locomotives when Conrail operated these commuter services (1976-1983) and 231 in a "McGinnis" scheme used by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad on many of their locomotives, including the FL-9s. The Conrail unit is part of the railroad's recent heritage unit fleet, unveiled starting in 2023 for the 40th anniversary of the formation of Metro-North. The New Haven unit is one of four such units owned by the Connecticut Department of Transportation - which Metro-North partners with to operate New Haven Line service - that are all painted in this heritage scheme. Coincidentally, 201 and 231 are respectively the first and last P32AC-DMs on the Metro-North roster.
