New York & Atlantic SW1001 no. 101 (EMD, 1977) is seen leading train RS-40 down the Lower Montauk Branch, approaching the bridge at Flushing Ave. The skyline in the background is not Manhattan, but rather Long Island City, Queens, which in recent years has been living up to the New York State motto, "Excelsior," Latin for "Ever Upward."
