Southern nights. A night hostler spreads a film of fresh oil on the cross-head guides of the Rio Grande Southern's veteran T-19, 10-Wheeler #20 as he makes his rounds in the company's yard at Ridgway, Colorado.
This re-creation was staged during a May, 2024 photo shoot in the yard at the Colorado Railroad Museum, which featured the Southern's most famous locomotive. In this particular frame, museum volunteer "Jimmy" plays the role of our night hostler.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
