Last October, the Rhaetian Railway parked the 6 ABe 4/4 # 51 to # 56 railcars on the Bernina line. As a result, during the summer half-year, when the various Bernina Express trains are running, there is now an average shortage of around 2 “Allegra” dual-current railcars (ZTZ) to cover all services, especially on the Bernina and to Arosa. For this reason, push-pull trains with Ge 4/4 IIs are now used between Chur and Arosa, and freight trains are also operated with two Ge 4/4 IIs. Ge 4/4 II # 633 pulls the regional train 1441 of the line R16 from Chur to Arosa, crossing the 145 meter long and 46 meter high Gründjitobel viaduct between Peist and Langwies. The viaduct in reinforced concrete has a main span of 85 meter and was built in 1913/1914 for the then independent Chur-Arosa Railway (ChA).
