| Dead in Heat: Excessive heat conditions during the final weeks of June 2024 caused havoc on a number of railroads throughout the United States. Here, eastbound Gladstone to Hoboken Train NJT 418 is at Murray Hill on the Single/Main Track for its scheduled meet with NJT 413 on the Passing Siding. After both trains met within Murray Hill interlocking, the dispatcher was unable to get either end of the interlocking to respond trapping both trains here for close to an hour. While waiting for assistance from MOW workers, the conductor and assistant conductor can be seen standing on the platform at the ready. On the hind end is NJT 4215 (GP40PH-2B). Diesel trains are less common on the Gladstone Branch and usually such sets originate out of Hoboken. |
