On 8 June 2024, after around 10 years of construction, the new 5860-metre Albula Tunnel II was officially opened and since 12 June all trains have been running through the new tunnel (left portal). In Preda, the Rhaetian Railway's diesel tractor Tm 2/2 116 has left the old tunnel and an employee is just turning the points (tongues are in intermediate position) so that the vehicle can enter track 3. This switch, not connected to the signal box and tongues fixed, will be used for some time to remove rails, slepers, ballast, catenary etc. in the old tunnel, which will later be converted into a safety tunnel with an asphalt road.
