On the afternoon of May 15th, 2024, a Union Pacific intermodal stack train approaches the historic site where the last spike was driven on the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad (The Salt Lake Route) on January 30th, 1905, as it heads west along the Cima Subdivision near Las Vegas, Nevada. Interestingly, while the State of Nevada has erected a historical marker on Las Vegas Blvd to commemorate this significant event, the marker is located 1.5 miles southwest of the actual site.
