Remarks & Notes |
Cogwheel locomotives He 2/2 # 19 "Flühblume" of the Schynige Platte Bahn is leaving Breitlauenen with train 650 from the Schynige Platte down to Wilderswil. The locomotive was built in 1911 for the Wengernalpbahn by SLM and Alioth as # 59 and came to the SPB in 1963. When travelling downhill, the SPB locomotives have the pantograph lowered to minimize wear on the contact strips and contact wire. The heat from the resistors of the electric brake is released into the mountain air. Cab windows and doors and a flap on the side are open for better heat dissipation. |
